What Project Niu teaches students
written by Evan Rapoport , February 22, 2008
Great questions, Ivy! Project Niu teaches two main things: environmental science and how to be a good "steward of the environment". So, in tracking Niu as it floats in the Pacific, you will learn about the currents, weather systems, and other factors that effect things that go into the ocean from Hawaii. This might mean trash left on a beach, or perhaps something less obvious, like chemicals that leach into the groundwater.

In learning to become a "steward of the environment", Project Niu helps you to protect Hawaii's beauty and natural resources for future generations.
